Russian Foundation for Basic Research
The Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) created by Decree No. 426 of the President of the Russia Federation, dated April 27, 1992, “On Urgent Steps to Preserve the Scientific-and-Technical Potential of the Russian Federation” is a non-profit organization, created in the form of a federal state-funded institution.
Being a representative of the state, the Foundation provides financial (in the form of grants that can be awarded to individuals or legal entities) and organizational support for basic scientific research, that facilitates the realization of the science policy of the state, and is based on principles of granting the scientists the freedom of scientific research and the freedom of choice of field and methods of research.
