The institute is head and coordinates research and development on veterinary parasitology in Russia and the CIS countries. There is a Coordination council on veterinary parasitology where the leading scientists from the Russian Federation (31 persons) and the CIS countries (5 people) enter. The chairman of the board is the director of VNIIP of K.I. Scriabin, the corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Uspensky A.V.
Coordination is conducted according to "The interdepartmental coordination program of basic and priority applied researches for scientific ensuring development of agrarian and industrial complex of the Russian Federation on 2011-2015", on problem 08 "To study molecular and biological mechanisms of development of especially dangerous and most widespread and socially important diseases of animals, to improve existing and to develop new methods, means, equipment and technologies of their diagnostics, treatment and prevention for receiving production and raw materials of an animal origin of high sanitary quality and preservation of ecological safety".
Within the coordinated scientific and technical programs basic and priority applied researches on studying of regularity of formation of parasitic systems and their separate components in the conditions of natural and agricultural biocenoses, biological and genetic characteristics of causative agents of parasitic diseases, to creation of new generation of diagnostikum and complex means of protection of animals are conducted.
Besides scientific researches by performers of coordination scientific and technical programs constant scientific and methodical and practical help to veterinary service and specialists of agriculture of the republics, edges and areas in prevention and fight against parasitic diseases of animals was given.
