Parasitology Specimen Collection
(Central Museum of Helminthology)
The Parasitology Specimen Collection is an integral part of the Biology and Biological Foundations of Prevention Laboratory and is part of the VNIIP – FSC VIEV run directly by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
Currently, the Parasitology Specimen Collection holds about 130,000 specimens, and covers over 2,000 helminth species from more than 700 species of animals and humans.
The Collection is divided into following three parts:
1. Main Stock - it includes 24,143 depository items;
2. Demonstration Stock – 600 macro items to display;
3. Reserve Stock – fully unrecorded.

Curator of the Parasitology Specimen Collection, Senior Research Associate Alexander Valerievich Khrustalev Alexander Valerievich has been working in the Biology and Biological Foundations of Prevention Laboratory for 43 years. His scientific work is inextricably connected with the Parasitology Specimen Collection, and his experience in preservation, enrichment and information technology support of the Collection is unique.

Senior Research Associate, Alexander Sergeevich Moskvin
Alexander Sergeevich does a lot of work with the stock of the Parasitology Specimen Collection. Many people know him as an enthusiastic lecturer in the showroom of the Collection who has extensive knowledge about the Collection itself and about biology of the development of causative agents of animal and human parasitic diseases.

How to get on the tour?
The exposition part of the Parasitology Specimen Collection is visited in groups by prior request submitted to the Secretary of the Organization Lyudmila Mikhailovna Al Miladzhi by phone or e-mail.
