Video "Life of wonderful ideas. Parasites - the companions"

In December 2015 in Stockholm, held the traditional ceremony of the Nobel awards. The prize winners in medicine and physiology became American scholar, an Irishman by birth, William Campbell and a researcher from Japan Satoshi Omura - for the discovery of new methods of combating infections caused by parasitic roundworms. The role of parasites in our life so big that it's impossible to believe. It is a dangerous creation of nature, living at the expense of others. They feed on the flesh and blood of their hosts, affect the biological and social behavior of entire species, at the population level. And thus ultimately direct evolution of flora and fauna. Their behavior is so complex that it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between a parasite and its victim. In one program - the entire history of humanity's struggle with worms-parasites: from Hippocrates to the current Nobel laureates.

Involved: Julia Drogowa, researcher at the Institute of biomedical problems of RAS; Alexander Moskvin - senior research fellow at the Institute of fundamental and applied Parasitology of animals and plants named after K. I. Skryabin.
